The house was sold by Doralee Smith, real estate agent, to the owner David Hammond who attended the mix and mingle reveal.
“We hope this event was enjoyable for the owners,” Satrina Plyler, broker/owner of EXIT Realty In Touch said. “It is a beautiful home with many features that are not normally found in regular homes for sale.”
Building started in early February and the finishing touches were made during the third week of November by numerous vendors who donated or worked on the home.
Joe Herndon, president of HBASG, said he was excited to finally show off the abilities and talents of everyone that had a hand in the project.
“It is something that I am very proud of,” Herndon said. “As our association has worked very hard on this for a year and the final product goes to show what a good year it has been. I just thank everybody from the bottom of my heart.”
This is the first home to be built and showcased by HBASG in Valdosta but there could possibly be more to come in the upcoming years, said Jill Pope, executive officer of HBASG.
Vendors were able to sponsor the building of the four bedroom, three and a half bath, custom home.
There are multiple design elements that make the house special including a screened in back porch, customized fireplaces and unique master bathroom shower, along with energy saving features and efficient use of space.
It was decided to use the location in Kinderlou because of the “view in the back as well as the community that this neighborhood brings rather than just a suburb,” Plyler said.
According to Plyler, 24 vendors and contributing contractors were able to put the project together in nine months with the backing of platinum, gold and silver sponsors.
The vendors attended the event to showcase things they had to offer that are not done everyday.
The house was built as a collaborative effort of the Homebuilders Association of South Georgia and multiple vendors as a way to show new abilities and technologies that can now be built into a home in any area.
